La Comunidad de Madrid cierra los centros de mayores para evitar nuevos contagios por coronavirus

La Dirección General de Salud Pública de la Consejería de Sanidad de la Comunidad de Madrid ha firmado, con fecha 6 de marzo de 2020, una resolución por la que procederá al cierre temporal de los centros de mayores para evitar nuevos contagios por coronavirus.
La medida afecta a los 213 hogares y clubes que hay en la Comunidad de Madrid. De ellos, 10 son privados, mientras que los 203 restantes son de titularidad de la Agencia Madrileña de Atención Social (AMAS) o de entidades locales. Asimismo, se cerrarán los servicios de convivencia familiar y social de titularidad privada. La suspensión del ejercicio de actividades de los centros de mayores se establece por un plazo de un mes, «sin perjuicio de posibles prórrogas».
Según ha informado el Ejecutivo autonómico, el objetivo es adoptar medidas en materia de salud pública en relación con la actividad de los centros de mayores en las tipologías de hogares y clubes, así como servicios de convivencia familiar y social.
Esta decisión se ha tomado porque los usuarios de los centros de mayores constituyen una población «especialmente vulnerable» al covid-19, considerando que existe «un riesgo inminente y extraordinario para la salud pública».
De acuerdo con lo previsto en el artículo primero de la Ley Orgánica 3/1986 de medidas especiales en materia de salud pública, las distintas administraciones públicas –dentro del ámbito de sus competencias y con el objeto de proteger la salud pública y prevenir su pérdida o deterioro– pueden adoptar las medidas previstas en la citada ley, cuando así lo exijan razones sanitarias de urgencia o necesidad.
Entre las medidas preventivas que incluye dicha ley, figuran la incautación o inmovilización de productos, suspensión del ejercicio de actividades, cierres de empresas y sus instalaciones, intervención de medios materiales y personales, y cuantas otras se consideren sanitariamente justificadas.
Finalmente, recuerda que los centros de mayores son aquellos espacios destinados a promover el envejecimiento activo y la prevención de la dependencia donde los usuarios pueden acudir a realizar diversas actividades socioculturales y de entretenimiento.
