Zapatero se reúne por sorpresa con Nicolás Maduro en Caracas

El expresidente del Gobierno español José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero se reunió este viernes por sorpresa con el mandatario venezolano, Nicolás Maduro, en el Palacio de Miraflores de Caracas, sede del Ejecutivo, sin que hasta el momento hayan trascendido las razones del encuentro.
En la reunión también estuvieron presentesEFE/ PRENSA MIRAFLORES/ y dos de los vicepresidentes, los hermanos Delcy y Jorge Rodríguez, según imágenes difundidas por el canal estatal Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
En 2016, Rodríguez Zapatero comenzó una labor de intermediación entre el Gobierno venezolano y la oposición que no dio frutos y que terminó con el rechazo de los detractores del chavismo, que desde entonces han llegado a considerarle como un simpatizante del oficialismo.
Además, manifestó su respaldo a la mesa de diálogo puesta en marcha entre el Gobierno y un pequeño sector de la oposición que es rechazada por la mayoría que lidera Juan Guaidó, a quien casi 60 países reconocen como presidente interino.
Precisamente, este viernes, esa mesa se reunió con la visita del ministro ruso de Asuntos Exteriores, Serguéi Lavrov, quien respaldó ese diálogo al asegurar que el enfoque de Rusia «es que cualquier crisis, incluso en Venezuela, puede ser solucionada a través de medidas políticas y diplomáticas».
Aparte de la mesa de negociaciones que visitó Lavrov, ha habido dos intentos fallidos más a lo largo de 2019 y en ambos participó el sector mayoritario de la oposición que encabeza Guaidó.
La visita también se produce en medio de una polémica originada durante la visita de Guaidó a España en enero pasado, cuando el presidente del Gobierno, Pedro Sánchez, no se reunió con el líder opositor venezolano, si bien lo hizo la ministra de Asuntos Exteriores, Arancha González Laya.
Entonces, Zapatero afirmó que Sánchez «acierta» al no recibir a Guaidó.
También se ha generado otra polémica por el encuentro que mantuvo el ministro de Transportes español, José Luis Ábalos, con la vicepresidenta venezolana Delcy Rodríguez en el aeropuerto de Madrid.
Acerca de esa escala de Rodríguez, el Gobierno subrayó que es «absolutamente falso» que el presidente del Gobierno hablase con la vicepresidenta venezolana como se había publicado en España.
